Jeremiah 3

3v3. Therefore the showers have been withheld, and no spring rains have fallen. Yet you have brazen look of a prostitute; you refuse to blush with shame.
- We're still on how bad Israel is being to God..God withheld the showers..God has reversed his gracious response to those people. That's a scary thought...being so bad and displeasing God so much that it makes God NOT rain down.

3v12. 'Return, faithless Israel,' declares the Lord, 'I will frown on you no longer, for I am merciful,' declares the Lord, 'I will not be angry forever. Only acknowledge your guilt - you have rebelled against the Lord your God, you have scattered your favors to foreign gods under every spreading tree, and have not obeyed me,' declares the Lord.
- Even amidst all that lawlessness and evil, God still loves Israel. He still tells them to repent and come back to Him, because they are His children whom He loves.

3v20. How gladly would I treat you like sons and give you a desirable land, the most beautiful inheritance of any nation. I thought you would call me Father and not turn away from following me. But like a woman unfaithful to her husband, so you have been unfaithful to me, O house of Israel, declares the Lord.
- God's our Father who gives us gold instead of rocks. As Rachel wrote in her blog the other day, a woman who's in a marital relationship commits to her husband and only her husband. It's lawless to cheat on him (and him on her). But this is what Israel did to God..they cheated on God. but unlike a ruthless husband, God still loved Israel and was willing to forgive and love them because He is God. God is jealous and merciful.
