7 They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind. The stalk has no head; it will produce no flour. Were it to yield grain, foreigners would swallow it up.
You reap what you sow. The people of Israel were sowing wind, empty bags of nothingness. And what did they reap? Nothing. They put their time, money, and even worshipped all these nothings in the form of golden calves, and they should've expected nothing. The only way something actually of substance will grow is only if you plant seeds. Israelites didn't plant seeds; they planted wind. and so they reaped the whirlwind. These people who were once God's, sowed sin- adultery, carnal passion & desires, greed,.. and they reaped worse.
