3v9 Honor the LORD with your wealth,
with the firstfruits of all your crops;
- Always give God the best. Not only things in terms of monetary value, but also with love. Because verse 10 goes on to say that doing so, God will give us more than we can ever hope.
3v11 My son, do not despise the LORD’s discipline,
and do not resent his rebuke,
12 because the LORD disciplines those he loves,
as a father the son he delights in.
- This happens more often than we'd like; God rebukes us in many ways, including through each other. But rebuke is misunderstood so much by our pride and we just shut our ears to it. You know what, if you feel rebuked, just suck it up and take it with thanksgiving. Cus that means God loves you. He wouldn't rebuke those who He loves. It's just like coaches yelling and being the harshest with his best players.
4v23 Above all else, guard your heart,
for everything you do flows from it.
- I think either Joe or Pastor Ron preached about how the heart is like fertile soil; anything can grow from it if planted. Guarding it will prevent evil from sprouting from our hearts.
