there's this book the praise team is reading and is called "The Unquenchable Worshipper" by Matt Redman. one line that i can remember vividly from my reading is about passion and fire for praising God, &he paints this picture by describing a forest fire. usually, wild fire is almost impossible to stop..it spreads so quickly and almost instantly (hence the term "spread like wild fire") and is pretty overwhelming. almost dangerous. the reddish orange flames engulfing everything in its path and destroying it..nothing has a chance against it.
this is how our hearts should be described when it comes to worshipping God. our desire and everything else should be run over by the power of the Holy Spirit, which is all a good thing! we WANT this because it's all to glorify God, but sometimes it's easy to mistaken this feeling as something dangerous and wild, so we try to stop it. matt redman says we try to cut off the fire. when authorities try to stop the fire from spreading to villages and stuff, they look ahead and cut off a whole bunch of trees and land so it's just barren. but this stops the fire, because it has nowhere to go, so it just...ceases.
apparently, we're the same way. we put a box around God and what He can do, and prevent the fire from spreading to people around us. but that's bad. we want to be engulfed by passion and desire to worship God.
