James 1:2-18
it's funny comparing the worldly teachings versus godly teachings. we are taught to do whatever it takes to reach the top, and take pride in our successes once we're up there. God says otherwise, to take pride in weakness. taking pride in high position and money can just as easily be taken away in a blink of an eye. taking pride in humble circumstances and low position instead will strengthen a person's character and perseverance.
also, scripture tells us to not accredit bad happenings to God. God is the definition of good, and bad can't exist in the good. but being human, we naturally tend to blame everything on God while thanking Him for the good, when in actuality we should be thanking Him in both bad AND good. sin should be blamed for bad things, not God. that doesn't even make sense. God's our good father. i love that analogy of the caring parent..a loving father wouldn't give his child rocks when asking for candy. not logical. same way with us and God i guess.
