18 Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.
This part of the passage where John warns us about the anti-christs. We need to be careful (even back then as today) about what sorts of things we listen to and choose to believe. I know especially for me, I'm pretty gullible so I tend to get tempted to start believing what sounds pretty good..but scripture downright warns us that the world is going to offer us things that we won't be able to resist but eventually will lead us to death.
