God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
Sometimes i find myself thinking about life after death, and i'll admit- i'm afraid of death. i'm afraid of not existing after i die, of not being this soul embodying this body forever. i know that God placed us on earth only temporarily and we're going to end up in heaven, our REAL home; but i won't lie, i'm afraid. I should really take this passage into heart, because John says that if i can understand God's love, His perfect love then there'll be no fear. Even though i practically have my whole life to live, it's this thought of a temporary-ness that scares me. "The one who fears is not made perfect in love"...how it applies and translates to me is that I'm still God's work in progress- not yet perfect, but becoming in His love.
