10 The land you are entering to take over is not like the land of Egypt, from which you have come, where you planted your seed and irrigated it by foot as in a vegetable garden. 11 But the land you are crossing the Jordan to take possession of is a land of mountains and valleys that drinks rain from heaven. 12 It is a land the Lord your God cares for; the eyes of the Lord your God are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end. 13 So if you faithfully obey the commands I am giving you today-to love the Lord your God and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul- 14 then I will send rain on your land in its season, both autumn and spring rains, so that you may gather in your grain, new wine and oil. 15 I will provide grass in the fields for your cattle, and you will eat and be satisfied.
-- Deuteronomy 11:10-15
earlier tonight, the praise team met for a little prayer meeting/sharing time. it was a really nice, quiet, intimate moment- where we got to share how our week was, how we are doing spiritually, academically, etc. towards the end, when we were talking about some worries and prayer requests, the topic of time management came up. some of us were afraid because we did not know how we were going to manage the time between school, friends, studying, and church. time management is such a sticky subject..everyone dreads it. it's annoying and it can kick us in the butt if we don't handle it.
but as we talked about how would we be able to handle not just fridays and sundays, but also wednesday prayer meetings, and biweekly prayer/bible study separately for the praise team, some of us got really worried that juggling time would take up most of our mind.
this passage seems to cover that issue though. Moses tells us that if we obey God, love him, and serve him with all our hearts, minds, and souls, God will take care of the rest. He will make sure there is enough milk and honey, enough rain for the crops, enough food for us.
we shouldn't worry. all He wants is for us to serve him with everything that we have. and since He sent his only son to die for us, this is the least we could do. don't worry about time management. don't worry if you don't think you'll have time to fit in school, your friends, church, and even your social life. as long as we follow God and listen with our hearts, he will make sure everything is a-ok.
