v1-3. The Lord Almighty is about to take from Jerusalem and Judah both supply and support: all supplies of food and all supplies of water, the hero and warrior, the judge and prophet, the soothsayer and elder, the captain of fifty and man of rank, the counselor, skilled craftsman an clever enchanter.
It doesn't matter who you are, what you do, what status you have in society, you got nothing against God. If God chooses to pass judgement on you, your title can't save you.
v10-11. Tell the righteous it will be well with them, for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds. Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them! They will be paid back for what their hands have done.
Yeah, God is merciful and filled with grace, but that doesn't mean he doesn't get angry.
v18. In that day the Lord will snatch away their finery
Earthly things won't save anyone from God's wrath. Even like the rich young ruler, who was still good and lived morally, couldn't bear parting with his earthly treasure and turned the other way. In that way, God gave him a choice- but this time, with Jerusalem and Judah, God snatches everything away that people held dear because they disobeyed him so much and angered him.
despite all this anger and wrath and judgment that's all about to come...
Godislove.
