the onlookers ask Peter and John how they are healing the crippled man, but they answer that it is all doing through Jesus's name. the apostles claim that they are nothing but instruments, and the healing and saving comes through the power of God. "By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus' name and the faith that comes through him that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see." v.16 everything that Peter and John say are proclamations of God's power and not theirs.
i wish i could be more like Peter and John. the way and attitude of telling the onlookers was so humble and truthful. there was no ounce of pride in their voices, except for the pride in Jesus Christ. they simply laid down their crowns at Jesus's feet, and acknowledged only His power and greatness, while accepting their own worthlessness. i am nothing but an empty instrument to be used by God, worthless until He uses me. this is why my favorite quote is: I am a hole in a flute that the Christ's breath moves through...listen to this music. - Hafiz.
